Australia makes a job of energy efficiency

The Australian Government is bringing together environment and employment departments to ensure that job seekers will find energy efficiency training and work opportunities.

The recently enacted Energy Efficient Homes Package is investing $4 billion in household insulation and solar hot water systems, as part of the Government’s wider $42 billion Nation Building and Jobs Plan.

To make sure that job seekers find the opportunities for retraining and work provided by the Energy Efficient Homes Package, the Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with industry associations and job service providers.

The agreement between the Government, the National Employment Services Association, Master Builders Australia, the Housing Industry Association and the Construction Forestry Mining Energy Union should mean that there are more workers skilled in installing insulation.
