SAN ANTONIO IS DEVELOPING SUSTAINABLE-ENERGY PLAN FOR FUTURE

SAN ANTONIO, Tx. October, 6, 2009.- The report calls for the city and the utility to take steps to invest in new, decentralized forms of energy. This will mean more of an investment in renewable energy; the development of buildings that generate their own power; hydrogen storage of renewable energy; and smart grids and plug-in vehicles.

Jeremy Rifkin, president of the Foundation on Economic Trends in the United States, facilitated a three-day City/CPS Energy workshop back in April in order to discuss energy technologies and options. The report represents the culmination of ideas shared at the workshop. CPS Energy will now incorporate ideas from the 73-page report into its Vision 2020 plan and future plans.
