Brazil: EDP Renovaveis Brasil acquires wind farms in Rio Grande do Sul

clipped from www.worldofrenewables.com The acquisition of Elebrás, for around 6 million reals, relating to project development costs, is in line with the strategy drawn up by the EDP Renováveis group, whose aim is to become a benchmark for renewable energy, especially wind energy, in which it is the world’s fourth largest producer. The projects are located in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, which is particulalry favourable for carrying out wind farm projects. Elebras has a Project portfolio totalling 532 megawatts of installed capacity, of which 70 megawatts are still underdevelopment and the remainder are at different stages of development. As well as these projects, EDP Renováveis Brasil is moving ahead with partnerships with Cemig and Petrobras for joint development of wind surveys.
