Electric cars pull ahead in US and Europe

Norwegian electric carmaker Think has received certification for its TH!NK City electric car as highway safe across Europe.

The certification from Dutch certification authority RDW, known as a homologation certificate, will allow Think to launch its electric vehicle all across Europe without having to apply for safety certification in individual countries.

“A pan-European certification makes the paperwork so much easier, and will enable Think to expand much quicker into more European markets,” commented Think CEO Richard Canny.

“The new harmonized directive is another sign that regulation bodies are seeing the importance of making EVs more easily available to the customers throughout Europe,” he added.

As part of the certification process, the safety of the TH!NK City electric car was tested in areas like crash, brake, lighting and emissions. The engineering and production processes are also audited to ensure that all vehicles meet the same standard.
