Renewable Energy Plays Big Role on Earth Day

In San Francisco, the city's Budget & Finance Committee will be voting on what would be California's largest solar photovoltaic power project – a 5-megawatt, 25,000 panel system covering the equivalent of 12 football fields on the rooftop of the Sunset Reservoir at Ortega Street and 24th Avenue. If approved, the project would triple the amount of renewable energy generated in the City by 2010. This would mean more clean power for public services and buildings such as Muni, SFO, streetlights and city schools. This shovel-ready project will also create immediately 70 green jobs, including electricians, laborers and operators.
